Sunrise bubbles

Norwegian photographer Odin Hole Standal woke up early one morning, went outside and made giant soap bubbles. Here are his beautiful results. Look at the lovely sunrise!

P.S. Also, popping bubbles...

(Update: This post mysteriously disappeared at 1pm, so I just re-uploaded it--odd!)

Nice rack.

We bike over to friends' houses quite a lot, but if we take a bottle of wine, it rattles around in the bike basket. This is a perfect solution!

Was your dad hip?

The tumblr Dads Are the Original Hipsters made me laugh out loud. It features old photos of dads looking awesome back in the day, along with hilarious captions. (The photo above: "Your dad wore cycling caps before you did...")
"Your dad drank obscure sodas before you did."
"Your dad wore a knit cap before you did."
"Your dad ate local fair-trade produce before you did."
"Your dad had big headphones before you did."
"You dad was into shooting shit before you were."
"Your dad lived in Portland before you did."
"Your dad didn't give a f*#k before you did."

Was your dad hip? :)

Congratulations, Will and Kate!

What a romantic moment...
...although maybe a little too loud. :)

Perfect nails

My friend Leigh always has pretty nail polish, but my jaw dropped when I saw her glittery gold manicure. They're actually Sally Hansen nail strips, which you apply like stickers! So they never smudge and don't need drying time. Aren't they amazing?

Three pretty things

The beautiful Susan Cernek in a blue shirt with ripped jeans and sky-high heels. She gets it right every time.
This gorgeous room makes me want to get brighter lightbulbs and more plants for our apartment.
How genius is this? I have an elevator phobia, but I'd at least press the button for this one (and then take the stairs.)

The invisible man

Chinese photographer Liu Bolin is meticulously covered in paint so that he disappears into his surroundings. Apparently, it can take up to 10 hours to prepare for a single shot. Aren't his photographs mind-blowing?! You can barely see him!

P.S. Remember these painted people?

(Photos by Liu Bolin. Via Honestly...WTF. Thanks, Leigh)

Embroidered book covers

How breathtakingly gorgeous are these embroidered book covers by Jillian Tamaki? She made them for Penguin Books, and rumor has it that they'll be available this fall. SO beautiful. (I'm sure Jane Austen would have wholeheartedly approved. I love Emma's little freckles!)

P.S. More + amazing + book covers.

Tragedy of the first position

This adorable video has been making the internet rounds, but I can't help reposting it! She's trying so hard! Ahh, I can't stop laughing. What a sweetie. :)

P.S. Ballet boys and marshmallow willpower.

Dinner in the sky

Dinner in the Sky is a Belgian company that hosts dinner parties high above cities around the world. They hoist up the table with a giant crane, and three chefs cook an amazing meal. The photos are thrilling, but would you dare?

P.S. Alex has a fear of heights, so he'd never do it. (My phobia is elevators, so I'd be ok:)

How to boil an egg

Alex cooks all the time, but the one thing that he can never seem to figure out is how exactly to boil an egg. It's weirdly hard! (I always hear him cursing in the kitchen.) So I was psyched to come across this funny website, Eggwatchers, which walks you right through it. Bravo!

Baby trashes bar

Swedish director Johannes Nyholm made this hilarious short film, starring his baby, about a middle-aged woman on vacation trashing a bar. We were dying laughing -- even if you don't like watching videos online, you have to watch it.

Back to the future

For her Back to the Future project, photographer Irina Werning, where she invites people to reenact their childhood photos. Awesome.

(Thanks, Raj)

Icebreaker tags

Swissmiss came up with these amazing icebreaker tags. To help spark conversations at a party, you give your guests these tags, on which they write down their name and their answer to a quirky question. Then it becomes so much easier for everyone to mingle, since they have a reason to start chatting! (You can choose your own questions and print the tags here.) Isn't that awesome?

Giant flowers

This coming Tuesday, artist Will Ryman will launch an installation called The Roses on Park Avenue -- they're 38 giant pink and red roses, along with beetles, bees, ladybugs, aphids and thorns (which the New York Times says will "stir a sense of foreboding"). Twenty petals will also be scattered on the ground, six of which will double as lawn chairs. The flowers will stay up through May as "the artist's love letter to New York City." Can't wait to see it!

P.S. Remember these waterfalls?

Art on the streets

My jaw dropped when I stumbled across this color comparison series, where Miss Moss matches street style photographs with old-school artwork. Bravo!

Chopping onions

Here's a little trick for when you're cooking dinner this holiday: To keep your eyes from stinging while you're chopping onions, put a piece of bread in your mouth and let it hang out. Apparently, it really works! Who would have thought?

Let it dough!

Berlin-based artist Christoph Niemann and his three sons started playing around with cookie dough. How genius are their creations? See more here.

P.S. Their Legos from last year.

(Thanks, Lauren!)
