Flower jewellery - a good alternative to floral dresses

Spring and summmer always bring out the best in me as the flowers in all their varying colours spring up and people start dragging out their floral dresses and skirts as the fashion trends draws on nature and the seasons. Despite my hayfever it is my favorite time of year - the most colourful season when it comes to clothes and fashion accessories as we shed the black, grey, navy blues and other depressing tones so popular in winter for the brighter, lighter and more playful hues that actually exist on the colour wheel.

But let's face it, not everyone likes florals or thinks that it is flattering.  While some see it as very fun, fllirty and feminine others just think that it is girly and suited for children. I love it and the best thing about florals is that it is always in fashion.  For those who are not partial to the floral trend then flower jewellery is a good alternative.  In my last blogpost I spoke about about colour and mood and I can see flower jewellery having a soothing and calming effect as it can make you feel at one with nature especially with life like interpretations of floral jewellery representing the flora and fauna around you.

This turquoise flower brooch by Erickson Beamon was one of Michelle Obama's favorite accessories which she wore with many outfits almost like a signature piece. Choose flower jewellery from Munique's stunning range of copper jewellery and leather jewellery including flower necklaces all handmade to life like perfection.

Choosing bridesmaid dresses

Gone are the days when bridesmaid dresses needed to look identical, which is great as your bridemaids will come in different shapes and sizes. Though I do know some people who factor in shape and size when choosing bridemaids as they want their bridemaids to fit into a certain dress.  But that is certainly not necessary these days.  Now bridemaids can wear different style dresses as well as different coloured dresses.  Here we see Carrie's bridemaids in Sex and the City all wearing different colour dresses and different style dresses with the only similarites being in the necklines and shoulders and sleeves to some extent.

So you can opt to go with a colour scheme for your bridemaids dresses or a style theme or neither just as long as your bridemaids are wearing dresses that flatter their bodyshape are looking radiant to be photographed.   It's easier when a bridesmaid feels that she is looking her best for her to smile for the camera.

For instance a floral theme for a spring /summer wedding can include a combination of skirt suits, strapless cocktail dresses and halterneck dresses.

Be guided by bodyshape when choosing your bridesmaids dresses.  Remeber uniformity does not have to be same dresses but similar bridesmaids dresses along a unifying theme be it colour,  print or even floral or flower wedding necklaces.

Wear Floral Dresses this Autumn

Good fashion never goes out of style and florals is one of your classic fashion which like your stripes and polka dots is always in. Though mostly assorted with spring collections, floral patterns can become part of what Gok Wan of "Gok Wan Fashion Fix" calls your ‘capsule wardrobe’. Your capsule wardrobe is simply your basic wardrobe pieces which you can build on. Each piece of your capsule wardrobe should be interchangeable with at least three outfits.

When adding florals to your wardrobe you can choose patterns that already match up with colours in your wardrobe to make them easily interchangeable to create several outfits and looks. At the same time your dress sense may be more eclectic and you may prefer contrasting looks and textures.

Floral fashion is usually made from soft, flowing fabrics like silk and polyester making it easy to fell dressed up when wearing this trend. Florals are fun, flirty and very feminine and a good fashion trend to wear if you want to get away from the harsh black and greys usually associated with winter.

If you feel that florals are not for you. Then floral accessories are always an option.

The Floral Dress

Florals are pretty much a sure fire bet for spring summer trends every year. This year the floral trend has been around all winter and looks to move effortlessly into spring and summer. There are lots of different variations on the floral trend for the next season including the over sized floral, the pixellated floral, the retro style floral and the sketched floral. I love them all for their bright feminine appeal. There is no better pattern to make you feel happy. The floral dress is a modern classic that can be worn in so many ways and for so many occasions. Here are just a few of my favourites.
